Synopsis: Dennis Quaid is a father who talks to his son through a ham radio - 30 years in the future! Something to do with the Aurora Borealis, sunspots, etc. In so doing, they manage to change the time/space continuum, and solve a murder mystery.
The characters were believable, interesting, & likeable. Dennis Quaid as the father worked so well because they seemed like the family next door - real people doing real everyday things. They weren't produced from a hollywood character cutout! You cared about them and what was happening to them. There is a slight sci-fi feel to the movie but it's presence only helps the movies progression. The 'Back to the Future' theme is felt by the way the past and present interact and alter each other respectively but you'll never get lost in any techno babble. My one gripe? I really don't think The Aurora Borealis will ever be seen by the
good folks in Queens unless they take a trip way north!
